we will never make another memory

knots are twisting
like vines and roots beneath my feet
tying me to the ground i once prayed on
sacred.

and now it seems that everything i once loved
is outgrowing me, or am i outgrowing it?
stupid wings, you never worked anyway
useless.

because i am angry at you,
because you are not coming to me,
because i am no longer cherished, and you are..
needless.

love is not these big things that surround me,
though there is meaning in the memories they hold.

i can't burn your pictures,
and rip your clothing,
and see your face every morning,
expecting

anything less than what i had before.
it's almost scientific now,
look at me using my head for once,

cruel irony.
